When: Sunday, October 29, 2017 – Noon
Where: Bell Time Club – 40 Broadway St., Unit B, Wakefield, MA
With the release of WWE 2K18 just under 2 weeks away (9 days for you Deluxe and Cena edition folks), I am very happy to announce our first ever WWE video game event, the Bell Time Classic! Partnering up with our friends at the Bell Time Club training center, the Bell Time Classic will be a WWE 2K18 tournament where the participants will be competing inside an actual wrestling ring!
Here’s the low down on the Bell Time Classic:
-The entry fee to participate in the tournament will be $10.
-The winner of the tournament will receive a cash prize (to be determined based on number of participants).
-The tournament will be played on the Xbox One platform.
-The tournament format will most likely be some form of single elimination with brackets determined based on the number of participants. There is the possibility for time concerns that opening round matches may be 3 or 4 person matches. If byes are required based on numbers, byes will be chosen based on a beat the clock mechanic.
-The maximum number of entrants is 32.
-Players can pre-register to secure a spot in the tournament. To pre-register, send your $10 entry free via PayPal by clicking here. Be sure to include your full name and put “Bell Time Classic” in the note section. Also be sure to NOT to check the “Paying for goods or a service” box so PayPal doesn’t take a cut of your entry fee. Anyone who does this will need to pay the portion of the fee PayPal takes in person the day of the tournament. No spot will be reserved without payment. Bring your PayPal receipt (either a print out or on your mobile device) to the venue on the day of the tournament for check-in.
-Registration on the day of the tournament will begin at 11:00 AM at the Bell Time Club and will end around 11:45 (or after 32 participants have registered). Pre-registered participants should also check-in (with PayPal receipt) during this time. The tournament will kick off promptly at noon, so it is important for everyone to register or check-in on time.
-Entry fees are non-refundable. Please be sure you want to, and are available to, participate before registering.
In addition to the Bell Time Classic tournament, there will be a few other things going on at the Bell Time Club that day. There will be raffles for some prizes that will be announced in the coming weeks. Refreshments will be available for purchase as well.
First and foremost, the Bell Time Club is a professional wrestling training center. The head trainer of the BTC is Beau Douglas, who will be on hand during the event. Beau is being inducted to the New England Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame as part of its Class of 2018 and was trained by the legendary Walter “Killer” Kowalski. This is your chance to meet Beau and learn how you can have the opportunity to train and work to become a professional wrestler at the Bell Time Club with the help of one of the most respected names in New England wrestling.
We’re also working on a few other things that we hope to, along with the raffle prizes, announce in the next few weeks. Pre-registration is open, so lock up your spot now!
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I bring friends/family to the event to watch? How much will it cost them?
A: Spectators are welcomed and encouraged. There is no cost for spectators to enter. Just keep in mind that space at the BTC is limited and there is no guarantee of seating for everyone.
Q: I wanted to participate but the tournament is full. What can I do?
A: As stated above, spectators are welcome at no cost to watch the tournament. Also, we will be making a stand-by list in the event that someone who pre-registered doesn’t show. The stand-by list will work on a first come, first serve basis and you will only have to pay the entry fee if you are chosen to participate. We’re also using this event to see how much interest there is for doing events like this on a more regular basis. If we get an overwhelming show of interest, it will open the door for potential larger events. So, even if you don’t get to participate this time, you can help shape future events.
Q: How long will the tournament last?
A: There’s no way to predict for sure. It will depend on the number of participants and how long the matches themselves take. We’re planning on being there for most of day and if you are participating, you probably should too.
Q: I have an Xbox One controller. May I bring it?
A: For this event, we are not allowing participants to use their own controllers. We want to ensure the playing field is equal for all participants. We also want to keep the tournament moving at a good pace and having to sync controllers between matches can slow things down more than necessary.
