Grand Pokémon League – Last Week to Register for Fall 2017 Season

grandpokemonleague

Our franchise Pokémon league, the Grand Pokémon League is gearing up for the Fall 2017 season! This week is your last chance to register to be an expansion team for the fall season. The deadline is this coming Sunday, August 20th.

For those unfamiliar with the GPL, here’s a quick rundown of what it is:

You create your own franchise to compete. You pick your team name based in a city/town in the Pokémon universe, colors, and logo (We have people who will help you with a logo design if you aren’t artistic.) and your franchise will be off an running.

From there, you’ll need to fill out your roster of 10 Pokémon. The catch though is that no Pokémon can appear on more than one roster. And you can have Pokémon on your roster for up to 3 GPL seasons. So, if you have Venusaur on your roster, only you can use it. But how does that work when there are established teams who might already have all of your favorite Pokémon?

The first part of the preparations for the next season of the GPL is the Expansion Draft. New teams will have the opportunity to pluck a few Pokémon off of the existing teams’ rosters to get them going. From there, all teams will take part in the Free Agent Bidding process to round out their rosters for the new season.

Once the season kicks off, each team will have one battle a week against a scheduled opponent with the goal of qualifying for the playoffs and having a chance to compete for the Grand Championship. The winning trainer earns a championship t-shirt with his/her team’s logo on it.

That covers the basics of how the Grand Pokémon League works. Interested in jumping in? Head on over to the GPL thread on the ION Game Corner forum and get yourself registered for the Fall 2017 season and be sure to do it before the end of this coming Sunday. The road to the Fall 2017 Grand Championship starts next Monday!
