Alexander: Charizard, Venusaur, Blastoise, Dragonite, Scizor, Beedrill

Zero took Alexander’s best shot in this one, waited for the time to counterattack and landed a knockout blow. Alexander got rolling first with Charizard scoring a KO on Sting (Mega Altaria). Zero then got on the board when Brutus (Venusaur) fell thanks to a burn at the hands of Leonardo (Blastoise). Leonardo then picked up a KO on Charizard. Alexander answered with Highball (Dragonite) and Razorclaw (Scizor) scoring KOs on Alpha (Scizor) and Rogue (Hydreigon) respectively. Then, Zero found his opening and struck. Leviathan (Gyarados) hit the field and, on the strength of 2 Dragon Dance boosts, went on to KO all of Alexander’s remaining 4 Pokémon to grab victory for Zero.

Cody defeated Michael

Battle Format: Single, Best of 3
Battle 1 Video: BPTW-WWWW-WWX6-CK3E
Battle 2 Video: KV3G-WWWW-WWX6-CKXA

Lineups:
Cody: Swampert, Scolipede, Zapdos, Altaria, Thundurus, Landorus
Michael: Slowbro, Swampert, Rotom (Wash), Malamar, Sylveon, Electivire

In the first battle of this best of 3, Cody and Michael battled back and forth, with neither able to pull away until the very end. Cody struck first with Apocatequil (Thundurus) taking down Mega Slowbro. This started an exchange where each trainer lost 3 Pokémon. After Baal (Rotom) scored a KO on Apocatequil, it looked like Michael might be ready to grab the advantage. But Cody responded with golden boy (Zapdos), who proceeded to score 3 consecutive KOs to finish Michael’s team off, giving Cody the early 1-0 lead in the match.

Battle 2 followed the same pattern that the first one did. The scoring even began the same with Apocatequil getting the KO on Mega Slowbro. This time, the back and forth exchanges lasted until both trainers had lost 4 Pokémon. Again, it was Cody who pulled away late. Giaganat (Scolipede) came to the field and finished off both Swampert and Poseidon (Malamar) to end the battle and the match in Cody’s favor.

Custos defeated Howler

Howler: Scizor, Keldeo, Altaria, Toxicroak, Chandelure, Landorus

Custos and Howler staged another seesaw battle that saw Custos surge forward at the end. Custos was able to draw first blood with Mega Scizor taking down Tapsoriasis (Toxicroak). Howler answered with Keldeo getting the KO on Mega Scizor. This began a KO trade that stopped after both trainers had lost 3 Pokémon each. Howler looked to take control with Sia (Chandelure) taking out Greninja. This opened a door for Custos, however, as Krookodile scored KOs on Sia and Keldeo, its Moxie strengthening it with each tally. Howler was finally able to fell Krookodile with Azalea Banks (Scizor), but it was too little, too late. Alakazam finished off Azalea Banks to hand the win to Custos.

Connor: Donphan, Talonflame, Volcarona, Vaporeon, Aggron, Azelf

Lance came away with an impressive victory over Connor. The battle started on a rough note for Connor when Aldo (Machamp) was able to confuse Donphan and it was unable to do anything except hurt itself. Aldo got the KO on Donphan and things started snowballing from there. Lance called on Siegfried (Dragonite) who went on to score 2 KOs before Dreadnaught (Talonflame) could take it down. Dreadnaught fell to recoil from its Brave Bird shortly after, which opened the door again for Aldo. Aldo was able to grab the final 2 KOs, giving it 3 for the battle, to lock up a win for Lance.
