Alexander d. Jeff

Battle Format: Single
Battle Video: XTSG-WWWW-WWW8-8YEC

Alexander: Xatu, Sceptile, Eelektross, Leavanny, Muk, Poliwrath
Jeff: Charizard, Hippowdon, Avalugg, Tyranitar, Magnezone, Metagross

An early mistake and a run of tough luck created an avalanche that buried Jeff in this battle. Chrono (Xatu) got the ball rolling for Alexander by scoring 2 KOs, sending the Stealth Rock of Metagross back at Jeff, and poisoning 2 of Jeff’s other Pokémon. Spirage (Poliwrath) sandwiched its 2 KOs around a KO by Ragnarok (Tyranitar) for Jeff. Tesla (Magnezone) picked up the last of Jeff’s KOs before it fell to Sludge (Muk) to finish the battle.

Lance d. AJ

Battle Format: Single
Battle Video: 3N4W-WWWW-WWW8-9P6S

Lineups:
Lance: Exeggutor, Machamp, Raichu, Rhyperior, Gengar, Dragonite
AJ: Venusaur, Alakazam, Zapdos, Crawdaunt, Aegislash, Rotom (Heat)

Both trainers traded blows early on in this one in an attempt to get the advantage. Each side exchanged KOs, with 3 Pokémon each taking the fall. During this, Juzi (Mega Gengar) managed to score 2 KOs, the second of which came as it went down to Lionheart (Aegislash) via Destiny Bond. AJ called on Zapdos to take charge and it gave him the first real edge by scoring 2 consecutive KOs. Things looked bad for Lance who was down to his last Pokémon. But that last Pokémon was Siegfried (Dragonite), who proceeded to hit the field and, thanks to a pair of Dragon Dances, came back and defeated AJ’s final 3 Pokémon to give the victory to Lance.

Michael d. Zero

Battle Format: Non-Title, Single
Battle Video: 7N9W-WWWW-WWW8-B4YA

Lineups:
Michael: Malamar, Electivire, Greninja, Noivern, Talonflame, Swampert
Zero: Toxicroak, Spiritomb, Rotom (Heat), Togekiss, Garchomp, Gastrodon

Michael took advantage of what appeared to be some team testing by Zero to score a victory over the IPL World Champion. Much like in Lance and AJ’s battle, both trainers traded a trio of KOs a piece with no clear advantage found. Hermes (Noivern) then swung the pendulum to Michael to stay by scoring a pair of KOs. Fang (Mega Garchomp) was able to take out Hermes, but was subsequently disptached by Tesla (Electivire) for its 2nd KO to cement the win for Michael.
